The Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is recruiting an innovative lab focused scientist to join a research team focusing on developing novel gene/cell therapies using ex vivo engineered human hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). The candidate will be involved in target identification, therapeutic concepts validation, process development, risk evaluation and ultimately successful transition into clinic. This position resides in the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics Department, a highly dynamic and collaborative environment that interfaces at biology, chemistry, protein science, genetic engineering and pre-clinical development.

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Qualified candidates will possess a B.S./M.S. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry or Immunology, and a track record of high quality research work. This position requires extensive experiences in human HSC biology, ex vivo culture, viral or non-viral based biomolecule delivery and genetic manipulation. Technical expertise in identification and isolation of HSCs based on cell surface markers is also essential. He/she will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, creative problem-solving capabilities and an ability to thrive in a dynamic matrix research environment.
