The Disease Area Specialist, Ankylosing Spondylitis (DAS) is a field sales specialty role re-sponsible for growing Cosentyx AS business by driving disease awareness, ensuring appro-priate patient identification and competitively selling Cosentyx relative to other approved agents. The DAS is representing and promoting Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation as a leader in Rheumatology and specifically the Ankylosing Spondylitis indication. The DAS will be responsible for achieving product volume targets for Cosentyx sales performance con-sistent with Novartis’ compliance standards. The DAS will leverage Rheumatology marketing materials & selling techniques, while coordinating with Cosentyx Rheumatology Reps, Strate-gic Account Managers and other functions (where applicable).

Major Activities
Sales
• Cover a large geographic territory and focus on a defined target list of productive influential physicians/practitioners in the AS disease area as well as a defined list of physicians in the referral pathway for Rheumatology
• Deliver in-depth product education in AS to ensure that HCPs and other office staff are sensitive to patient dissatisfaction and well-informed and educated how to identify patients that can benefit from Cosentyx
• Maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders in the office to drive patient advocacy and ensure engagement; apply highly advanced selling skills and ability to conduct total office calls
• Partner with office staff to educate them on appropriate Cosentyx patients
• Through customer insights, leverage knowledge of influence network & affiliations to support patient access, within compliance guidelines
• Embed managed care pull through in Cosentyx selling execution
• Collaborate with Rheumatology Sales Specialists and other roles as needed/appropriate; maintain consistent with Ethics and Compliance policies

Disease Awareness
• Educate HCPs on how to properly identify & diagnose AS patients, and identify insufficiently controlled/dissatisfied patients across a spectrum of symptoms (symptoms, diagnosis, un-met needs)
• Message around underserved patient population to gain attention / empathy
• Remain abreast of relevant and approved indications, disease state and product research.
• Lead efforts with MD-Patient events for AS; develop local speaker’s and KOLs to improve Patient education
• Map key influencers/networks involved in diagnosing/treating AS patients to track potential new customers /AS patients, consistent with company policies and guidelines.

Account Management
• Develop/maintain deep understanding and relationships with the local KOLs and practices with high volume of AS patients
• Develop strong knowledge of treatment algorithm and business dynamics within accounts and collaborate with other functions to meet customer needs
• Monitor competitors’ approaches and use information in business planning
• Assess managed pull through situation in the offices in call execution

Study in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or Business related discipline, Account Management

Minimum Requirements:
• Three (3) years of successful pharmaceutical and/or medical device sales experience includ-ing experience selling complex biologic products and/or devices

• Must live within a reasonable distance of the ter-ritory. No relocation will be provided

• History of, and commitment to, selling products in an ethical and compliant manner

• Proven track record of consistent high perfor-mance

• Strong clinical acumen

• Strong ability to collaborate and demonstrate success working within cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous rheumatology experience preferred

Experience with building disease state awareness

Experience selling in a competitive market environment
