The NIBR Informatics (NX) division establishes the platforms and systems which support our culture of scientific creativity.
The NX Cloud Team is responsible for providing and operating a secure, compliant, agile, scalable, and cost effective external cloud environment to support the dynamic needs of NIBR science. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Cloud Site Reliability Engineer to help us streamline and automate our processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure and platform engineers, technical and financial operations personnel as well and our internal partners and customers. The ability to be flexible and multitask effectively is essential to success in this fast-moving, dynamic environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop operational processes and procedures as needed
• Create automation code to streamline operational procedures
• Act as application service manager for cloud platform tools
• Research and recommend tools and services to support platform operations
• Contribute to metadata (e.g. tagging) strategies for tickets and resources
• Help to automate the deployment of monitors and alerts
• Regularly report on cloud inventory and configuration of cloud resources
• Provide ongoing customer support, incident and problem resolution
• Analyze and report on platform metrics (e.g. incidents, requests, usage)

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Education: BSc/MSc degree in the computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
Language: Fluent/business level English (verbal & written). German language skills advantageous
Additional:
• Scripting proficiency (e.g. Python, BASH)
• Ability to integrate data from diverse streams (e.g. API, file, DB)
• Experience with IT infrastructure automation languages (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Puppet)
• Working knowledge of leading public cloud provider (AWS preferred)
• Experience with IT Service Management (ITIL)
• Experience with metrics analysis and reporting
• Excellent organizational, collaboration and communication skills
• Understanding of TCP/IP LAN/WAN networking technologies and troubleshooting techniques
• Strong customer focus
• A passion for problem-solving
