Chemical Biology and Proteomics Investigator
Cambridge (Cambridgeshire) Chemistry / Biology / Agronomy
Job description
Job Description
We are looking for an investigator to join a team focusing on quantitative chemical proteomics and other affinity proteomics strategies for identification and characterization of novel drug target/ligand pairs. The successful candidate will lead efforts to design and implement small molecule affinity-based enrichment strategies utilizing a diversity of cell and tissue sources and using mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomics as a read-out. The position offers considerable opportunities to impact all aspects towards target and ligand identification and understanding compound mechanism of action, including probe design, biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein-ligand interactions and proteomics-based investigation of cellular responses to compounds treatment. The individual will be a critical member of multi-disciplinary project teams focusing on early stage drug discovery that include chemists, cell biologists, biophysicists and data scientists.

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biological Science with at least 3 years of post-graduate research experience. The ideal candidate would have a background in chemical biology and/or proteomics and experience in identification and in vivo/in vitro characterization of target/ligand pairs. A strong knowledge of the concepts governing binding affinity, kinetics, and selectivity as well as practical experience in affinity enrichment of proteins and peptides from cultured cells and tissues is required. Hands-on experience in nanoLC-MS/MS instrumentation, quantitative proteomics approaches (e.g. iTRAQ/TMT, SILAC) and proteomics data analysis is highly desired.
