General Description
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. (SSI) is a world leader in Memory, System LSI, Storage and LCD technologies. We are currently looking for a Field Application Engineer in our San Jose, CA office. This person will be responsible for leading the promotion of image sensor products into various major OEM applications. In addition, this role will work to understand customers' requirements and collaborate with cross functional teams to guide the design of Samsung's market leading CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) technology into customers' imaging devices. Responsibilities: • Provide pre-design in customer support to engineers evaluating Samsung image sensors (includes comprehension of customer's application, creation of compelling product demonstrations, consultation with customers for product selection assistance and general assistance) • Assist with post-design for customer support (includes design assistance on hardware and software, on-site optimization and troubleshooting, collaboration with camera module integrators and general Q&A) • Lead technical communication between customers and internal engineering team • Understand the customer's needs and requirements to guide the development team to deliver quality products • Prepare customer status reports, issue tracking and summaries of customer requirements • Research on product benchmarking and competitive positioning data to support sales and marketing teams • Manage customer programs/projects across North America and Asia sites to ensure strong team collaboration in resolving customer issues

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering • 5-8 years of customer support or camera/image sensor design • Highly proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) • Willingness to travel up to 15% • Knowledge of camera design, operation and performance metrics with understanding of optics, image processing, video processing, and module electro-mechanics • Knowledge of CMOS image sensor design, operation and key performance metrics with understanding of pixels, analog circuits, ADC, digital processing, and high-speed interfaces
