Summer 2017 Intern - Data Scientist (Retail Practice)
Location: Burlington, MA

The role & team
The Strategy & Capacity team is looking for fast-learning data scientists who want to make an impact on key investment decisions related to infrastructure operations and optimization. Candidates will help develop insights surrounding trends in customers consumption of cloud infrastructure, working with fellow data scientists within the infrastructure engineering organization.

Required-skills
·  Perform large-scale data analysis and develop effective statistical models for segmentation, classification, optimization, time series, etc.
·  Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations and influence the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to cross functional groups
·  Work closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to proactively provide insights that directly impact critical business decisions
·  Suggest improvements to data science tools and techniques to help scale the team Experience
·  MS or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, operations research, or related field) from a leading academic institution
·  Academic research experience a plus
·  Strong Programmer - Python, R, Java, and/or C++. Experience with relational database is a plus
·  Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
·  A passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity
·  Demonstrated success presenting complex research data (qualitative and quantitative) in a clear and compelling manner that inspires action
·  Experience utilizing both qualitative analysis (e.g., content analysis, phenomenology, hypothesis testing) and quantitative analysis techniques (e.g., clustering, regression, pattern recognition, descriptive and inferential statistics)
