Job Details

Heroku means developer productivity. The Heroku Platform led the industry in smart containers and app delivery. Now we're building on our lead. Our newest features are bringing developers, devops, and data scientists together on our Platform with collaboration, productivity, and security features that fulfill our promise to everyone on the dev team: Ease of use, beautifully productive interfaces, and the clear path from idea-to-app that dev teams can only get from Heroku.

Heroku, a Salesforce company, is hiring a Senior Product Manager for Identity and Security Experience. Your job is to own and create the areas of our Platform that provide developers and their administrators a clear view of security postures, policies, accountability, and integrations. The goal is to make security and identity experiences simple, clear, and a pleasure to use — from the everyday user's login, to the Account administrator's management console. And to help make the Platform experience holistically one of confidence and security.

Making the complex simple is no easy task. But that what we do at Heroku.

The idea candidate will have 3+ years Product Management expertise with a developer-focused product. Candidates with background in identity technologies (SSO, SAML, SCIM, IdPs, etc.) and a passion for the cat-and-mouse of today's internet security arena will flourish in this position. And if you code, good for you we love that too.

Building for *all* developers is of primary importance to us. In a world where the next generation of software engineers will be of every nation, race, gender, orientation, and creed — we encourage all those with empathy for the diversity of our rapidly growing customer base to apply.

Key Responsibilities

·  Own the vision for your product domain. Ensure that it aligns with the overall product and company vision. Be an expert on the domain, the market, the trends. Evangelize the vision constantly so all stakeholders are aligned, have context and understand where we are going.
·  Own the product experience in your feature area: identity and security.
·  Represent the customer. Be the champion and voice of customers. Build intimate, personal customer relationships. Bring the customer's voice into the creation process.
·  Manage the roadmap. Make tough tactical prioritization decisions while helping the company think long-term. Build trust with stakeholders by maintaining an understandable, accurate roadmap.
·  Collaborate across teams to deliver great product. Product management plays a critical role in creating alignment between engineering teams and stakeholders. A collaborative attitude is essential to the job.
·  Measure success. Own the measures used to define success for your product. Success measures must be defined at the inception of a product and tracked throughout its lifecycle. Make measures visible to all stakeholders and interpret them into actionable conclusions and new hypotheses.
·  Develop new opportunities. With your finger on the pulse of the market, the customers and the engineering teams, you are uniquely positioned to discover and develop new opportunities.
·  Develop the product management organization and practices. Heroku is growing and so is its organization. Your input and effort are needed to help us evolve our organization and our product development practices as our service footprint, our business, and our teams grow.

Key Competencies

·  Strong product management track record. You have shipped developer facing products and services in a relevant field to Heroku with demonstrable customer and business success.
·  Strong customer and stakeholder empathy. You must be not only the voice of the customer, but at various times the voice of marketing, finance, engineering, support and ops. You must be able to channel many points of view.
·  Owned service management experience. You are intimately familiar with modern software development practices used to build and deploy web and mobile applications and understand what product ownership of production services means.
·  3+ years of product management or equivalent experience with demonstrated ability to discover opportunities, and then define and deliver products.
·  Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and projects
·  Proficiency in one or more programming languages desired: Ruby, JavaScript/Node.js, Java, Scala, Python, PHP, Go, etc. and/or related subject matter expertise.
·  Domain expertise (e.g. as a product manager, user, practitioner, or technology provider) in several of: PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, cloud services, application lifecycle management, continuous delivery, devops, application development, web application operations, distributed computing.
