Job Description

We seek to hire an in-house employment lawyer for the EMEA region reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Labour & Employment, EMEA based in London. The position will be focused on providing complete employment legal advice for the Company across the EMEA region of 13 jurisdictions including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

·  Providing support to HR, recruiting and business leaders in relation to all employment law matters including hiring, employee relations and terminations;
·  Developing, updating and maintaining employment documentation including contracts of employment, policies, handbooks, confidentiality agreements, settlement agreements and sales compensation  documentation;
·  Helping HR to design and implement new policies, practices or procedures to help the Company drive phenomenal growth and best practice across the region;
·  Advising on and managing any employment litigation across the region;
·  Developing and delivering employment law training to HR and the business to help scale for growth;
·  Engaging with external local counsel to seek advice and guidance on local legal issues; and
·  Assisting with any employment-related activities on acquisitions and restructures.

Qualifications Required

·  5+ years’ post-qualification experience in employment law (although all candidates with the right level of skills and experience will be considered);
·  Excellent academic credentials and training contract at leading law firm;
·  Quality post-qualification experience with a top law firm
·  1 year’s  in-house experience is preferred (this experience could be secondment-based)
·  Current qualification in at least one key jurisdiction (e.g. UK, Ireland, France)
·  second European language is desirable, ideally French
·  Experience of working with a US multinational is desirable

 

Experience Required

The right candidate should have experience of:

·  Advising on employment law and practice in several European jurisdictions with experience in practical applications and issues
·  Works Councils in one or more European jurisdiction
·  Employment litigation in one or more European jurisdictions
·  Advising on and working with Sales Compensation Plans and Stock Plans, with particular focus on implementation in Europe
·  Providing tailored, practical and commercial advice in a user-friendly manner
·  Advising on the legal and practical employee aspects of both share and business acquisitions including information and consultation requirements under the Acquired Rights Directive
·  Co-ordinating or project managing pan-European projects

·  The ability to think and work independently, whilst also working collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams; and
·  The ability to demonstrate excellent legal judgment combined with practical problem solving skills to deliver sound business solutions.

Preferred Skills:

- Fluency in French is a plus
