The amount of stock we move from field to fork is enormous, and our Logistics division is integral in ensuring that our stores are fully stocked allowing us to serve our customers whenever and wherever they want.

If you are looking for a yearlong paid internship and can prove you have a passion for personal development in a Logistics environment then this role could be perfect for you. This internship will give you an opportunity to build your knowledge whilst delivering great service to our stores. You will do this through managing a team within the transport or warehouse function and ensuring all legal and budgetary requirements are met. You will be responsible for creating a team where colleagues love to work.

Based in one of our fast-paced depots for the first 6 months, you will be responsible for everything from ensuring we are operating within legislation, policy and process and all matters relating to safety, health and environment whilst ensuring risks are minimised. You will be delivering effective people management processes and continuous development of teams through ongoing coaching and feedback. You will role model our values to drive engagement within the transport/warehouse department, as well as other tasks such as supporting site specific projects and ensuring that your team is organised effectively on a daily basis to meet customer requirements.

During the second 6 months of the placement you will work within our central logistics team gaining a greater understanding of our future strategy and supporting the implementation of cost saving projects across the network.

Desired profile

We are looking for applicants that are either in the process of completing an undergraduate degree, or have completed it. This placement is ideal for students looking to take a year out of study to complete an internship to broaden their personal development.

We are looking for people who show a passion for Logistics and are eager to continue building on their learnings as well as being able to soak up knowledge from others within our business.

In order to succeed on this placement, communication skills and the ability to work within a team are essential. You’ll be great at time management, be someone who can self-organise, deliver great coaching and are results oriented. In an ever changing retail environment it’s exciting to think what these 12 months could entail for you.

Flexibility is required - You could be based at any of our 6 in-house depots, but we will ask you about where you will be living and try to allocate a depot close to your preferences. Our depots are located in Basingstoke, Elstree, Waltham Abbey, Hoddesdon, Hams Hall and Haydock.
