Job description

Sainsbury's Brand Internship - Applied Agriculture and Product Nutritionist

12 month Internship

If Sainsbury's could figure out the way consistently increase the level of Omega 3 and Vitamin D in all our eggs, 24 million of people across the UK would benefit from their health-giving properties – because that's the number of customers who shop with us. When you look at it that way, the impact we could have on the nation's wellbeing is enormous.

It's not just eggs, though. If we could work out how to maintain nutrients from all our agricultural products as they pass from the point of production to the point of consumption, we'd be doing the nation a real favour. And that's exactly what you'll be working towards on our 12-month Innovative Food Systems Teaching & Learning Internships.

You'll review current evidence for improved nutrition quality of a range of products, from eggs, milk and meat to fish, produce and cereal, and help us to deliver it. That means looking at suppliers' animal and plant breeding programmes, as well as feeding and farming practices, analysing customers' dietary behaviours and presenting your findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.

If you're studying, or have recently graduated in, Food Science/Production/Technology, Animal Nutrition, Agriculture or Biological Sciences, this is the ultimate start to your career. The salary is outstanding for a placement opportunity and you'll have a significant impact on our business decisions. The real benefit, however, is the chance to see how your university experience and theoretical knowledge can be applied to have massive real world benefits.

This will be of particular interest to students who have participated in the IFSTAL programme.
