Data Governance Analyst – 12 Month FTC

Finance, Edinburgh

In this fixed term role you will be supporting data governance across Sainsbury's Bank, assisting with the implementation of a data governance framework, principles, processes, policies & standards.

Your role responsibilities will include:

·  Helping develop the Sainsbury's Bank Data Governance framework, including Principles, Terms of Reference, Policies & Processes, recommending changes as required for the approval of the Data Governance Working Group (DGWG)
·  Supporting and co-ordinating data governance structures and governing bodies
·  Developing and implementing data governance policies and standards, data ownership processes and processes for data creation and usage
·  Managing and maintaining a Business Glossary of key data definitions and attributes
·  Implementing a rigorous & consistent framework for the measurement of data quality and maintain an accurate Data Quality Log
·  Developing processes to assess data governance policy attestation across each business function
·  Supporting the assessment of 3rd party supplier capabilities and the identification of key risks
·  Helping manage and report the data governance risk landscape, ensuring adequate risk articulation, mitigation and management awareness
·  Delivering data governance training to all Data Stewards, Owners & Users
·  Providing status reports to various committees, including Data Governance Forum (DGF) and the Data Governance Working Group (DGWG)
·  Making recommendations, including any business cases required for investment, or any remedial action required to address any data governance risks
·  Helping deliver projects to improve the data governance frameworks, or provide insight to broader projects

Your skills, knowledge and experience:

·  Strong experience in a data and/or analytical environment
·  Graduate with Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, or Science degree
·  Proven experience of data management and data governance principles and their applicability within the financial services industry
·  Experience of RDBMS-based solutions and SQL programming (Preferably using Teradata)
·  Good understanding of business systems and how they interface with / feed into their functional / business unit infrastructure
·  Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
·  Experience in the financial services industry
·  Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
·  Excellent team player with ability to working closely with others to deliver results
·  Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically
·  Good communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level
