Safran Aerosystems (SAO) designs high-tech solutions that optimize aircraft performance and flight safety. As the world leader in emergency evacuation systems and crew oxygen systems, Safran Aerosystems is also a major player in fuel and fluid systems.

The Customer Support & Services (CSS) division is the after-sales network of Safran Aerosystems (SAO), a leading provider of onboard equipment and systems for airplanes and helicopters.

As a VIE HSE & Facilities Engineer at the Van Nuys site, you will be responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's HSE management system, while also overseeing Facilities activities. Based on site and working with a high level of autonomy, you will be the main local point of contact for HSE and Facilities matters, reporting to a manager based in Atlanta and working in close coordination with the person responsible for global HSE coordination.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Driving continuous improvement of the HSE management system through annual risk assessments and risk-reduction initiatives.

• Identifying needs, defining priorities, and managing HSE action plans covering safety, health, environment, ergonomics, and workplace well-being.

• Leading HSE improvement projects and supporting site projects by integrating HSE requirements from the design phase.

• Ensuring the implementation of Safran HSE standards and improving the site's level of compliance.

• Implementing existing HSE procedures and creating or adapting local procedures when needed.

• Managing incidents and accidents, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, reporting, and escalation.

• Coordinating internal and external HSE audits and following up on associated action plans.

• Tracking HSE performance indicators and communicating results to relevant stakeholders.

• Strengthening the site's safety culture through communication, awareness initiatives, HSE events, and training.

• Monitoring water and energy consumption, carbon footprint, and related environmental improvement actions.

• Overseeing Facilities activities, including building, premises, infrastructure, and gas piping network maintenance.

• Coordinating service providers, supporting site security activities, and sharing best practices with other Safran sites.

We are looking for someone who is autonomous, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of HSE and Facilities topics in an industrial environment.

You should have:

• Strong ability to work independently, organize priorities, and drive actions to completion.

• Strong communication, persuasion, and influencing skills, with the ability to justify recommendations and engage different stakeholders.

• Ability to work effectively with both operational teams and management.

• Good knowledge of international HSE, environmental, and ergonomics processes and standards.

• Knowledge of HSE management systems in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge and practical understanding of risk assessment methodologies and risk management processes.

• Good command of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools, such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, and fault tree analysis.

• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and/or California HSE regulations is a plus.

• An educational background in HSE or a closely related HSE field is required.

• Good level of English, both written and spoken.

• Spanish is a plus.

• Previous experience in the aerospace industry is a plus.
