Job description
As a fully owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) delivers and supports various products including high performance optronics and inertial navigation equipment.
Headquartered in Sydney, SEDA brings local expertise in the integration of optronics and navigation systems for the air, land and naval platforms of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Technician will be responsible for:
• Perform assembly, testing and validation of optronics and navigation/timing product-lines in accordance with applicable process and instruction.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks for supported products including but not limited to; inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repairs/upgrades, integration and validation.
• Perform maintenance activity on customers' sites across Australia, New Zealand or other international destinations as required.
• Maintain strict adherence to health and safety, and quality standards.
• Creation of accurate technical reports
• Ensure proper and timely recording and closure of all technical activities
• Assist in maintaining support and test equipment related to operations.
Candidate skills & requirements
To be successful in this role , you must have:
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline
• Able to read, analyse and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
• Setup and application of support and test equipment.
• Experience in technical documentation and processes IAW Quality Standards AS/NZS9001, AS/NZS9100, and AS/NZS45001 framework
• Experience in Continuous Improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, 5S etc)
• Intermediate working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Visio).
• Specialised knowledge and/or operational understanding of optronics and navigation systems is desirable.
• Prior work experience within the defence industry is desirable.
