Job description
Overview:
In this role, the Sr. Lead Engineer (Stress) will actively participate in structural analysis for NPI (New Product Introduction), redesign and technology programs of the Safran Actuation Business Unit and will support various Actuation Systems product lines, including Power Door Opening System (PDOS), Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems (TRAS), Highlift Flap and Slat Actuation systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Understand system requirements, design intent, and comply with applicable structural analysis practices, standard works, aerospace standards, customer requirements and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out preliminary analysis and detailed analysis for NPI, technology programs, re-designs, and value engineering
• Perform classical hand calculation, Finite Element Analysis, and detailed report preparation (stress reports and presentations)
• Support internal and customer reviews like PDR, CDR, etc.
• Support manufacturing concessions and failure investigations
• Actively participate in a team environment and work with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams for product development
• Ensure analysis tasks are completed on time and with the required quality.
Candidate skills & requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engineering materials, stress, fatigue, and vibration
• 6 to 9 years of industry experience in structural analysis (using FE tools, classical hand calculations)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in hydraulic and electro-mechanical product design.
• Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, surface and heat treatment processes
• Minimum 2-year hands-on structural analysis experience using Ansys Workbench and Mathcad. Experience in Nastran, Ansys ICEPAK is a plus.
• Experience in productivity tool development using Excel VBA, Python
• Knowledge of aerospace product compliance, qualification, and certification.
