Job Description

Due to retirement, we now have an opportunity for a Service Engineer to join our team in Gloucester. In this role, you will be carrying out complex repairs and inspections to aircraft landing gear at our customers' facilities. Duties will also include disassembly and inspection of landing gear, with application of remedial action to enable final assembly, test and certification, working in accordance with OEM instructions as required. Communicating directly to customers and managing their expectations to provide excellent support.

You will work as part of a team to provide onsite support as required, working as part of a workshop team, carrying out the recertification of landing gears including disassembly, inspection, local repairs, bushing, assembly & test.

This is a customer facing role acting with professionalism at all times as company representative. Key tasks include;

• Responsible for carrying out repairs to aircraft landing gear & associated equipment, out of base traveling to customers locations in around the world

• Holding a company signatory stamp with the responsibility to release landing gears and components back in to service under the appropriate airworthiness authority.

• Flexibility to support AOG and urgent customers' requests whilst on site and out of hours including weekends and public holidays.

• Company ambassador for Safran whilst on customer premises ensuring effective communication and professionalism at all times

• Assist in the repair, test and overhaul of landing gears while on site at Gloucester MRO.

• Ability to dis-assemble, assemble and test complex landing gear assemblies.

• Provision, control and maintain specialised tooling for out of base requirements.

• Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours

• Ability to read and interpret component maintenance manuals, drawings, engineering layouts and additions to the original design such as Service Bulletins, Service Letters and Airworthiness Directives

• Ability to compile risk assessments prior to and during off site events to ensure a safe working environment

• Use of a Forklift (full training can be given), MEWP and working at height

• Required to work day shift when on site (subject to change in line with company requirements) plus unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays when working on wing

Job Requirements

• Engineering Apprenticeship, plus experience within an engineering environment or equivalent

• Previous experience of landing gear maintenance would be an advantage, but not essential

• Ability to interpret Component Maintenance Manuals, Technical Drawings & instructions

• High level of dexterity with attention for detail

• Ability to use a variety of hand tools including precision measuring equipment

• Understanding of electrical circuits to a basic level of wiring

• Able to travel at short notice to worldwide destinations, with no restrictions

• Human Factors, risk management, working at height experience

• UK driving license

• Have or willing to gain forklift truck & MEWP licences, experience and confidence to work at heights

• Excellent problem solver with root cause analysis skills

• Efficient computer skills

• Articulate with excellent communication skills at all levels

• Ability to make decisions under pressure

• Good mathematical skills

• Excellent team working ethics

• Self-managing and reliable with high levels of flexibility and integrity

• An understanding of QMS, Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles

• Role requires frequent travel and applicants must be deemed medically fit to travel
