In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in cutting and sewing dress covers for aircraft seats for all non-production components and dressing seats as needed. Will also make minor modification of cushions as well as responsible for training new sew technicians. This position has the power and control to set up sewing machines and cut and sew the material per the requirements. This position has the power and control to Lead in the Supervisor's absence. ·  Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

Main Function Responsibilities

A) Sets up and cuts patterns to close tolerance.

B) Sews fabric, leather, faux leather of various weights and laminated thicknesses.

C) Operates lockstitch, serger, topstitch, double needle machines

D) Performs regular preventive maintenance on equipment

E) Maintains a high quality of workmanship and assumes responsibility for work performed in assigned duties.

F) Modifies cushions as needed

G) Mentor less experience members of the team

H) Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

A. Education & Qualification List the Scholarship degree, type, etc. i.e.:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge • (Acquired through previous jobs, assignments, responsibilities, etc. including language capabilities.) i.e.:

• Must have 3-5 years of commercial sewing machine experience.

C. Professional Skills • (Ability to use the knowledge and/or the experience in the job) i.e.:

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawing, diagrams, tolerance information, work orders, safety guidelines, operating, maintenance and procedure manuals

• Thorough understanding of shop practices, processes and procedures.

• Advanced ability to sew fabric, leather, faux leathers of various weights and lamination thicknesses.

• Must be able to make minor modifications to cushions as required

• Must be able to add, subtract, multiple, divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals and apply concepts such as fractions, percentage rations and proportions to practical situations.

• Basic computer skills.

• Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.

• Ability to read and review written communication.

• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

General Work Conditions

Physical Demands: This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.

Work environment: The work environment includes office setting with moderate office noise.
