Job description



The role of a Plater is to assist the plating department in the preparation, pre-treatment and plating of aircraft components to CMM repairs and specifications.

·  • Candidates will have a good knowledge of electrical circuitry and Surface Finishing Techniques Experience in one or more of the following plating finishing techniques - Chromium, Nickel or Cadmium
·  • Ability to prepare and mask up components during the pre-plating process
·  • Ability to set up tooling, fixtures and assist in new tooling design
·  • Experience of pre-treatments depending upon the material substrate
·  • Ability to use a wide and varied range of precision measuring equipment
·  • Ability to read component maintenance manuals, complex drawings and engineering layout information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to complete repairs of parts within specified dimensions and tolerances
·  • Good problem solving skills to diagnose vat, electrical or tooling malfunctions and to determine need for adjustment or repairs
·  • Experience with COSHH and safe use of chemicals

·  • An Engineering/Plating Apprenticeship or equivalent ideally gained in the aerospace or automotive sectors
·  • IMF Foundation / Technician Qualification or equivalent
