Job description
What does the role look like?
We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to take the lead on transferring production lines, processes, and equipment between our sites — ensuring that capability, quality, and efficiency are maintained every step of the way.
This is a hands-on role that combines engineering problem-solving with project coordination. You'll plan and deliver end-to-end work transfers across machining, assembly, and test processes — with a strong focus on machining of complex components such as gears and prismatics.
If you're an engineer who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, understanding how things really work, and bringing order to complexity, you'll fit right in.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
• Lead work transfer projects from initial scoping to full production readiness — planning, coordinating, and delivering transfers on time and within budget.
• Assess and plan production setups — understand existing machining, assembly, and test processes; design and validate new layouts at the receiving site.
• Collaborate across functions — work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to align plans and remove roadblocks.
• Ensure readiness at the new site — coordinate equipment installation, process validation, and capability checks to ensure production can ramp up smoothly.
• Apply continuous improvement — identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve processes as part of each transfer.
• Support and train local teams — ensure knowledge, documentation, and best practices are effectively transferred to the receiving site.
• Capture lessons learned — drive continuous improvement of Safran's global work transfer approach.
Candidate skills & requirements
What will you bring to the role?
What You'll Bring
• A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
• Experience working in a precision manufacturing or aerospace engineering environment, with an understanding of associated regulations such as ISO9001.
• Good understanding of machining processes — including turning, milling, gear cutting, grinding, or other complex metal-cutting operations.
• Proven ability to plan and lead technical projects — coordinating multiple teams and priorities.
• A structured yet flexible approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods (Six Sigma certification an advantage).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage different stakeholders such as shop-floor, suppliers and senior-level stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to other sites to support on-site execution.
