Job Description

Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation partner with a range of global customers, working closely with major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Wizz Air, Iberia, Vueling, Air Canada, Etihad and Qatar.

What will I be doing?

As a Machinist, you role will be to set up and operate various machine tools to produce and repair aircraft parts to a high standard/tolerance. Machining parts to various aerospace specifications.

Key Responsibilities & Duties will include;

• Cylindrical Grinding, Planetary Grinding, Vertical Boring, Horizontal Boring, Turning and Honing

• Set up and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools and precision components onto machine beds plus adjust and operate specialist machine tools in order to perform precision machining operations

• Monitor and adjust feed and speeds during the machining process to ensure efficiency of both the machine and speed of process

• Use of a wide and varied range of precision measuring equipment

• Read component maintenance manuals, complex drawings and engineering layout information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to complete repairs of parts within specified dimensions and tolerances

• Diagnose machine or tool malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repairs

In this role, you will be working shifts consisting of earlies, lates and nights on a rotating basis.

Job Requirements

• An Engineering Apprenticeship ideally gained in the aerospace or manufacturing sector

• Excellent communication skills

• Good computer skills

• Good mathematical skills

• Team working ethics

• Self-managing and reliant

• Good problem solving skills

• Flexibility

• Must be willing to train and take on board new skills

• An understanding of Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles

• Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours
