About the role

Safran Helicopter Engines UK is seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Operator to join our New Production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out precision lapping operations on aerospace components in accordance with OEM manuals, engineering specifications, and work instructions.

This role is ideal for an experienced manufacturing professional with a strong understanding of Machine Shop processes and precision measurement techniques who is committed to delivering quality products in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate single-sided and double-sided lapping machines in line with work instructions and OEM standards.
- Measure and inspect components to ensure they meet specification and quality requirements.
- Maintain production targets for quality, utilisation, and on-time delivery.
- Support manufacturing activities across production areas as required.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Complete production documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and company procedures.
- Demonstrate company values and contribute positively to team objectives.

Desired profile

Essential
- Proven experience in precision on a milling, CNC, Griding machine or similar
- Experience measuring and inspecting components using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and follow detailed work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining productivity targets.

Desirable
- Previous experience working within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Experience working to OEM specifications and aerospace quality standards.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with precision engineering and high-tolerance component manufacture.

About SAFRAN

Supporting both the Civil and Military markets in the UK, Ireland and across sub-Saharan Africa, the company's UK facility in Fareham is the European Maintenance Centre Hub (EMCH) for the Safran Helicopter Engines group, performing level 1 to 3 maintenance/repairs on Arriel, Arrius, Makila and RTM322 engines either onsite or at our customers' facilities.
