One day you could be liaising with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!

In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Due to internal promotion, we are now recruiting for an Environmental & Sustainability Officer to join our HSE team in Cwmbran! In this role at Safran Seats, you will be the focal point for energy usage, conservation, reporting

and auditing. You will lead the carbon reduction programme across all sites and activities. You will introduce innovative processes to drive sustainability within an Engineering and Manufacturing Aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities & Duties;

Develop, coordinate and implement strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption

Encourage the use of renewable and sustainable energy resources within an organisation or community and raise the profile of energy conservation

Develop solutions for carbon management

Research and introduce lower carbon/VOC chemical substitutes

Create policies and systems for buying energy and helping with contract negotiations

Provide technical and practical advice and offer training on energy efficiency

Develop promotional activities and materials to publicise particular schemes

Liaise and negotiate with contractors, the building supplies industry, council services and other relevant organisations

Keep accurate records and regularly collect energy monitoring data

Carry out site inspections and energy surveys

Benchmark energy consumptions against best practice guidelines

Keep current with legislation

Job Requirements

Educated to degree level and/or a recognised professional qualification in an Environmental Science subject or equivalent

Knowledge of project management tools and methodology

Confidence

Numerical and data skills

Good communication skills to be able to present a case briefly and logically

Influencing and negotiating skills to motivate various colleagues to work towards

a common goal

Potential to stimulate and manage change

The ability to establish effective networks both within and outside the organisation

Potential to educate and train other managers and the workforce

Knowledge and enthusiasm for energy management and renewable energy issues.
