Job Description

·  Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The Design Quality Assurance Manager shall-

• Guarantee that appropriate efforts and measures are in place to achieve the engineering department goals in terms of external and internal quality (S, Q, C, D, P, I), internal and external customers focal point for quality matters:

· 
Ensure that internal and external requirements (customers, regulations, applicable standards) are taken into account.

· 
Ensure proper performance monitoring and review as well as actions taken when necessary to achieve the results.

· 
Assess development maturity in preparation for reviews and milestones

· 
Report alerts, risk and opportunities to the development team and assist on its management and treatment.

· 
Stop any action that could have an unacceptable impact on the quality of a product or service.

· 
Help teams implement best practices and conduct resource validation and qualification (test benches, prototypes, test facilities).

• Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements and systems and propose improvements:

· 
Ensure that developments comply with applicable standards and regulations at all phases of each project.

· 
Develop Quality awareness and train engineering staff in quality and APQP related best practices and tools.

· 
Help improve processes and monitor their implementation.

· 
Ensure that the necessary authorizations/accreditations are in place and properly managed.

• Track, evaluate and report process control status and quality reports. Address customer complaints regarding quality issues, validate analysis and action plans to resolve problems. Ensure such action plans are implemented.

• Lead the APQP methodology in development, ensure it is properly deployed and assured in all product developments. Ensure proper coordination with all departments for the proper APQP deployment.

• Develop and maintain the design quality assurance function, define quality objectives and ensure that the necessary action plans are implemented and effective:

· 
Ensure that feedback from previous projects is effectively integrated.

· 
Promote and ensure due compliance with processes and requirements.

• Ensure that the related quality system is defined, improved and sustained to maintain the necessary system certifications in the SAFRAN Seats US Develop scope.

Complementary Description

• Monitor and improve customer satisfaction levels and ensure proper and adequate customer communication.

• Participate, follow up and approve as necessary the FAI/PPAP DVI

• Manage the related IMS, documentation and records control and provide full support to the Internal Audit team to ensure company system evaluation objectives are met.

• Ensure proper corrective and preventive actions are taken to systematically determine root causes and provide detail action plans to eliminate the causes. Manage the Engineering CAPA process and follow up to all engineering related actions. Support Operations CAPA processes.

• Define relevant actions and lead implementation plans to ensure continuous improvement of engineering quality deliverables. Manage the Continuous improvement activity in Engineering and ensure appropriate level of involvement of the required functions. Implement best practices and methods.

• Support all internal and external stakeholders in development, in accordance with methods and best practices.

Other related activities may be assigned by the direct or indirect boss as required

Job Requirements

·  Qualification Requirements:

A. Education & Qualification-

• Required - Science or Engineering Bachelor degree or 6 years of related design quality experience in lieu of the degree.

B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge-

• Required - 5+ years of experience in aerospace industry (preferred) or equivalent, preferably in Design Quality, 3+ years in management.

• Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO19011, AS9100, AS9145, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001.

• APQP Tools knowledge and domain, PDCA, DMAIC and other related tools knowledge.

• Configuration and data management.

• Experience in internal and external audit and audit techniques.

• English proficient. Spanish and French are a plus.

C. Professional Skills-

• MS office proficiency and engineering related tools (CATIA).

• Organization and Project Management.

• Good skills for flow chart and drawings interpretation as well as customer requirements.

• Investigation, troubleshoot, audit, advising and assisting on poor quality.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

D. Behavioral Skills-

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and limited instruction.

• Must have the ability to drive major initiatives.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks.

• Strong leadership, initiative and execution.

• Ability to convince, accept responsibility, Adaptability-flexibility.

• Certified Green belt or Black belt

·  Travel - International and/or Domestic travel is required, approx. 10% or less.
