Writing Internship - Food & Wine blog
Internship West Midlands
Job description
Like wine, enjoy writing and would like to get some exposure for your work? Know how, or are keen to learn, how copywriting can make people sit up and take notice? Happy to take given titles and create interesting posts that directly answer and delve into the question?
If so, we might have just the role to help sharpen your skills, writing about a subject you're familiar with, for a dynamic wine business based in Herefordshire. (The position is remotely based, however.)
We have a blog, all about wine and food, and we're looking for talented writers to help expand the viewpoints represented on the site.
This internship will involve writing 1 or 2 carefully researched and written blog posts per week (ranging from around 600 words to whatever's needed to explore the topic thoroughly). We understand you've other commitments, so this is very flexible.
You'll be expected to be receptive to editing and revisions (max. 2 per post), and be able to work consistently across the period of the internship. Again, should you wish to 'drop out', or not complete the 12 post target, we understand.
It is primarily intended to help showcase your talent (full authorship credit will be given), and upon successful completion of the internship, we'll provide you with a Linkedin reference (or paper if preferred) to help you secure your next role.
We'll also send you a 6-bottle case of our wines as a 'thank you' if you complete 12 posts in the 6 week period.
If your work is of exceptional standard, we may also consider using you for occasional work in the future.
To apply for the role, or to find out more, contact us today. We may need to see examples of previous work (not necessarily wine-related) before you begin your internship.
Desired profile
Exceptional command of English, and a genuine interest in the subject matter (i.e. wine & food).
Wine qualifications may help but aren't essential. However, you must be able to convey what Rude Wines stands for in an unpretentious, easy-going manner. If you're happy to research around wine subjects and come up with your own take, this shouldn't be difficult.
The ability, or desire to learn, to write captivating, engaging copy that's useful and interesting to a potential reader.
The desire to improve and finely tune copy, until it shines.
