Role Overview This role is responsible for the meticulous inspection and authentication of all watches entering the logistics Hub, specifically for Watchfinder stock. The individual will assess watch condition, detail imperfections, and collaborate with other inspection staff to ensure authenticity, while also managing repair quotations and coordinating dispatch.
Responsibilities
- Essential daily responsibilities
- Conducting the inspection process of all new potential Watchfinder stock.
- Taking a set of pre-defined images of each watch for authentication.
- Removing and refitting case backs using specialist equipment with utmost care.
- Adding detailed information to servicing reports on TS to record condition and mechanical function of watches, including using machinery for Timing & Water Resistance checks.
- Performing exterior assessment of the watch, detailing any knocks, marks/dents etc.
- Making recommendations on what, if any, external parts need to be replaced to restore the condition of the watch.
- Processing work upon notifications given by the UK as to how watches are to be repaired and made ready for sale.
- Fitting and removal of straps and bracelet adjustments.
- Being responsible for photographing the watches during the QC process.
- Authenticating watches from own knowledge after sufficient training and experience.
- Fitting batteries to incoming quartz watches.
- Dealing with incoming warranty returns and communicating effectively with aftersales and service manager.
- Collaborative/cross-functional responsibilities
- Liaising with servicing inspection team in other platforms to ensure authenticity of new product.
- Working closely with manufacturers to obtain quotations for work needed, managing the approval process, coordinating and dispatching watches.
- Liaising with members of staff to keep them up to date with due dates, delays etc.
- Supporting with Parts and service workload including but not limited to ordering parts, accepting service quotes, liaising with external repairers.
- Managerial/team leadership responsibilities
- Training new staff on the Remote authentication process and authenticating watches they test.
- Supporting the Service Manager with tasks and being a point of call when needed.
- Minor, task-oriented responsibilities
- Assisting with inventory control processes (e.g., daily/weekly/monthly counts and stock movements) to ensure successful inventory (Stock Audits & Daily Stock Counts).
- Performing warranty inspection process, including completing a diagnosis to identify faults with warranty returns.
- Identifying and dealing proactively with any delays or problems that may arise.
Qualifications
- Technical skills or knowledge
- Dexterity to be able to perform basic watch intervention such as case back removal as well as straps and link adjustments.
- Professional/behavioral competencies
- Excellent organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and ability to relay technical information.
- Commercially astute, understanding the principles of customer service.
- Methodical approach to work.
- Able to communicate effectively over the phone, via email and face-to-face.
- Vigilant, ability to identify problems before they arise and deal with them quickly and professionally without delaying customer updates.
- Conscientious, understanding customer requirements and having worked in a customer-focused role.
- Ability to multi-task and enjoy working within a busy environment.
- Able to follow processes and procedures.
