R&D Scientist

Job description

Revolymer (U.K.) Ltd has an immediate vacancy for an R&D Polymer Scientist at our technical centre which is located in Deeside, near to Chester.

The job will be highly practical and laboratory-based with the main purpose to support the development and application of our proprietary polymers in a range of application areas including household care and cosmetics.

Main duties of the role will include:

• Carrying out R&D programmes under supervision and independently as required
• Synthesis and characterisation of novel polymers
• Formulation of polymers for a variety of application areas
• Interpretation and communication of results
• Carrying out literature searches in areas related to projects
• Compliance with the company’s safety and quality procedures

Essential experience/qualifications:

• Degree in Chemistry or related area
• Good team working, organisation and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desirable experience/qualifications:

• Experience in polymer and/or colloid chemistry, preferably gained in industry or at University.
• Knowledge of standard polymerisation techniques
• Knowledge of analytical techniques e.g. GPC, NMR, FTIR, thermal properties of polymers
