Southend Borough Council’s Marigold Assessment Plus Service has a vacancy for a Senior Practitioner to join a dynamic and creative team at the Allan Cole Contact Centre in Shoeburyness.
The team provides services for looked after children and their families, including supervised and supported contact, parenting assessments for the Courts and commissioning social work teams; therapeutic work with children and adults, and a range of parenting support programmes.
The successful candidate will conduct parenting assessments; supervise parenting support programmes, as well as carrying out complex individual work with children, with the main part of the role being parenting assessments.
The main purpose of the role will be to provide professional and comprehensive casework on the most complex and demanding cases within specialist services. you will be providing supervision to some members of the team, acting as a mentor and advisor.
Responsibilities will include, bat are not limited to:
- To provide an efficient and cost effective assessment, intervention, and therapeutic service to young people and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed.
- To develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having a full regard to their education, social, recreational and health needs.
- To ensure that investigations, enquiries and assessments are completed to high professional standards and that each case has in place current care plans, adequate recording, evidence of practice, reliable records and that all case records are fully maintained.
The role requires candidates to have excellent assessment and analytical skills; experience of writing Court Reports and giving expert witness evidence in Court; experience of working with complex issues within challenging time scales, resilience, flexibility and the ability to work on own initiative.
The service seeks to continuously improve and develop therefore successful candidates must be willing to contribute to its development. The role requires some out of office hours work as required.
