NCS Mentor and NCS Senior Mentor - Fixed Term Zero Hour Contract for 2 Months - multiple opportunities!

Location: West Midlands (to be based in Stafford, Telford or Worcestershire office)
Salary: £7.50 per hour / £9.84 per hour (Senior)

An opportunity has arisen on our client's National Citizen Service (NCS) Programme for 21 NCS Mentors and 4 NCS Senior Mentors to support the programme delivery team across the West Midlands on a Zero Hours Fixed Term basis. Activity will be based in the Stafford, Telford and Worcestershire regions.

The Role:
The NCS programme is a once in a lifetime opportunity open to all 16 & 17 year olds, helping them build new skills for work and life, bringing people together to make a difference in their communities whilst supporting their transition into adulthood. Responsibilities include;
* Work alongside NCS Programme Delivery Team and act as an appropriate role model and programme ambassador to motivate and empower young people to engage in activities that will facilitate their growth in confidence, raise aspirations and to assist in the realisation and achievement of their potential
* Lead on the planning and delivery of scheduled NCS activities in line with agreed objectives
* Lead on the delivery of timetabled outdoor and team-building activities during the residential phase of the programme
* Mentor participants and assistant with their successful integration with the wider group, providing relevant information and guidance where needed
* Support NCS staff with non residential phases of the programme including 'keep warm' activities, Social Action projects and Graduation activities
* Build positive and professional relationships with programme participants and parents / carers
* Support participant reflection of completed activities and skills developed through the facilitation of group discussion and meeting the aims for phase 3 and 4 activities
* Promote group cohesion in line with NCS social mix with participants from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities
* Assist in maintaining relevant administrative systems

These roles will predominantly entail motivating and empowering the young people to engage in activities to facilitate their growth in confidence, raise aspirations and to assist in the realisation and achievement of their potential through provision of mentor support.

The Person:
* Previous experience of working with young people including in a residential environment
* Flexible to work outside core hours, including evenings and weekends, and overnight stays during residential projects
* Adept communicator with the ability to persuade, influence and listen to others
* Strong motivational, customer service and organisational skills
* Demonstrable lateral thinking skills
A committed and flexible approach to the role is essential as there will be a requirement to work outside normal working hours throughout our residential programmes and will include short stays away from home.
