The Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role: Why does this job/ role exist, what value does it add?
• Debit Card technology is a mainframe based platform part of Banking Products within Everyday Banking Business division
• The Debit Cards platform in RBSG owns the application development for four main debit cards systems on Mainframe: a) Debit Card Issuing system(DCIS) b) Debit Cards Authorization System (DCAS) c) Debit Cards Clearing System (DCCS) d) Debit Card Risk Scripts (DCRS)
• In Technology services India, we are involved in end to end delivery of various regulatory, mandatory or Business driven Projects which covers the overall lifecycle starting from Requirement gathering, Estimation, Design, Development, System Testing, UAT and Implementation.
• This role is for a Software Designer required to handle Estimation, Functional Design, Application design, development activities for these projects and in addition to provide, technical assistance required to execute the project successfully.
Activities: What does the jobholder have to do?
• Analyzing the business requirements and converting them into Technical or Functional requirements as a team member
• Guide and mentor the team in technical areas, helping them in designing complex queries and reports
• Ensure development standards are adhered to by participating in design and code reviews.
• Creating the test scenarios, test cases, test datasets.
• Creating the technical designs and getting them approved against the operational principles as defined in TCF.
• Share own technical knowledge among and across the team.
• Assisting PM / Team Lead with technical details / decisions.
• Contribute to the knowledge repository

The Requirements
Person Specification
Essential Experience: What previous experience is required to do this job/role?
Essential:
• 2-4 years experience in systems development involving mainframe technologies
• Exposure to leading Application Design and System Testing
• Good Analytical, problem solving and communication skills
• Proven ability to document and share knowledge with team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build client relationships quickly
• Experience of working with Vendor teams to deliver project deliverables as per RBS Standards /processes Desirable:
• Knowledge of Debit Cards
Qualifications: What training or qualifications are required to do the job/role?
Essential:
• B.E./B.Tech, MCA
Desirable:
• Technical certifications in CICS / DB2
Technical Competence: What are the specific skills/ style and abilities required of the job/ role?
Essential:
• Excellent technical and domain skills on Mainframe technology including COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM
• File-AID, SPUFI, Xpeditor, Endevor.
• Excellent understanding of a systems development lifecycle methodology
• Expertise in producing quality technical documents.
Desirable:
• CA7, CICS
• Basic Assembler knowledge
