The Responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
The role provides consultancy services to Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Division and requires the individual to undertake and deliver analysis, modelling and data-mining services to enable CIB Division to achieve its financial and sales performance objectives.
The role holder will oversee and take part in the build, validate, test and update a suite of models and event triggers and also be involved in a range of different strategic analytical projects and proactively seek opportunities to improve current levels of performance.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Deliver high quality value add data driven customer insight that drives improves decision making, and ultimately moves business forward using high end analytical techniques
· Exhibit a structured approach to identification, extraction, manipulation and analysis of data for decision support and management information
· Develop a deep understanding of the business to ensure that analysis is embedded in everyday decision-making to improve customer and financial KPIs
· Work with business to interpret and influence their business objectives and analysis requirements
· Proactively take part in process improvement through idea generation and business delivery improvement initiatives (e.g. project enhancement through additional analysis modules etc.)
Customers satisfaction
· Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining accuracy on timelines and quality
· Develop a deep understanding of the C&P business and challenge the business to ensure the analysis is embedded in every day decision making and is relevant, adds value and achieves commercial outcomes
· Responsible for proactively supporting C&P business areas by recommending opportunities for improving financial performance through a more entrepreneurial and customer focused approach to analytics
Timeliness & Accuracy
· Challenge the business to ensure the analysis completed is relevant, adds value and achieves commercial outcomes
· Set and meet key milestones within project work and ensure all tight deadlines are delivered
· Ensure Quality Assurance processes are followed in all analysis work undertaken
Risk & Control
· Ensure compliance to risk policies (operational and business) – BCM, info security, access control, RACA compliance etc.
· Prepare for the quarterly audits and ensure compliance to all audit checks
People Management
· Support functional on-boarding and participate in cross-training initiatives
· Ensure Performance Management frameworks are adhered. Develop and action personal PDP
MAJOR CHALLENGES
· Handling multiple stakeholders and working simultaneously on 2-4 projects
· Identify quality and appropriate analytical solutions to complex business problems
· Establishing clarity of requirement – changes in requirements basis interim results and prioritising projects accordingly
KEY DECISIONS
· Select appropriate methodology for solving business problems out of the available analytical techniques and find the optimal solution to maximize business impact
· Time management and prioritize among various projects based on business criticality
· Assess quality and sanctity of input data sources and report outputs
· Foresee obstacles and contribute to resolution including data issues

· Work on 2-4 analytical projects and cater to 5+ ad hoc requests in a month

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Masters in Business Administration / Maths / Statistics / Economics / Operational Research / Quantitative Economics
· Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Economics/Commerce/Mathematics
EXPERIENCE
· 3-5 years of relevant experience in analytics preferably within financial services industry or database marketing
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
· Advanced knowledge of SAS data-mining and statistical models (e.g. SAS/STAT, Enterprise Miner) and other best in class emerging analytics applications
· Expertise in statistical modelling techniques and related technical knowledge like Generalised Linear Modelling (e.g. Logistic Regression) and Decision-Trees (e.g. C&RT, CHAID), Multivariate procedures (e.g. Factor analysis, Principal Components, VARCLUS)
· Data modeling and data warehousing techniques – Exposure to Teradata, Mainframes, Oracle BI, BigData, Hadoop, etc
· Good data visualisation, written, verbal and presentation skills.
