Job description
The Business
This is an opportunity to take up an importance compliance monitoring role in an area which is subject to complex and changing regulations. Join us as a Compliance Monitoring Officer in Trustee & Depositary Services and you'll take on valuable regulatory reporting responsibilities, and will have the chance to interact directly with clients on compliance queries.
Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) is our wholesale banking business, serving large corporate clients, financial institutions, governments and their agencies. We meet clients' needs by helping them raise, protect, and move money – activities which support all the economies where we operate, particularly in the UK.
Trustee & Depositary Services (TDS) is the market-leading independent trustee and depositary to the UK collective investment scheme (CIS) industry. We have provided trustee or depositary services for nearly 80 years, and serve approximately 42% of the UK CIS market.
What you'll do
The Risk & Compliance team in TDS provides a full, high quality compliance monitoring service to all clients, overseeing scheme assets to make sure that they comply with all the relevant regulations and restrictions. We also have a client facing dimension, promptly responding to queries and providing regulatory guidance.
As a Compliance Monitoring Officer you'll play a direct role in our service, monitoring our automated alert systems, and investigating and resolving any potential regulatory breaches. Where appropriate you'll complete manual reviews of scheme assets, and will monitor stock lending activities for possible differences from the set restrictions. You'll record, resolve, and analyse any confirmed breaches, and will track and understand any breach trends using our Breach Database, taking an overall view to help us improve the control environment.
Your success will hinge on a detailed understanding of the relevant FCA regulations, so you'll need to keep fully updated on any regulatory changes, and to understand their impact on our alert systems and subsequent investigations. You'll also be contributing to both internal MI and reporting, and monthly and quarterly regulatory reporting to the FCA, calling for utmost accuracy and steadfast timekeeping, and giving your role a regular rhythm.
What you'll bring
You'll need a sound working knowledge of securities and markets, and an understanding of the FCA regulatory framework as it relates to collective investment schemes. An existing awareness of the CASS rules would be valuable, and could prove an advantage.
You'll need strong attention to detail and should be technically proficient with MS Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Operating efficiently is important to our team, so we'll expect you to be able to demonstrate how you've spotted and acted on opportunities to make improvements.
Your interpersonal skills will also be important, as you'll need to collaborate fully with your colleagues, be able to clearly and effectively articulate risks and ideas, and manage interactions with clients.
How we'll reward you
In return, we offer a competitive salary plus 15% cash and benefit funding programme that can be tailored to suit your individual needs. In addition, we provide a wide selection of exclusive lifestyle offers, development and learning programmes, services and support designed to help you manage and balance your work/life priorities.
