AML Analyst
Graduate job Crawley (West Sussex) Accounting / Management control
Job description
The Requirements
If you're organised with a sharp eye for detail, this an opportunity to take on a role with great scope for development within our newly formed Anti Money Laundering (AML) team in Lombard and RBS Commercial and Private Banking. As an AML Onboarding Analyst, you'll be deepening your understanding of AML and reviewing and assessing high risk clients to help us protect our business and our customers, both for the present and for the future.
Our priority in Commercial & Private Banking (CPB) is to deepen our relationships with commercial clients and open up new opportunities for them. As the number one bank for small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK, we have a strong foundation to build on. By incorporating our market-leading wealth management franchises, we can also connect successful entrepreneurs with our leading private bankers.
What you'll do
You'll be an integral part of our AML team, which is responsible for performing AML checks on all our clients in our Commercial and Lombard teams. You'll be responsible for reviewing, updating and assessing high risk client cases, ensuring that all risks are understood and all compliance standards maintained throughout the process.
You'll be investigating customer information using a variety of data providers - including public information, internet searches and Relationship Managers' information - to make a judgement about the risk and status of each case. After fair and thorough investigation, and careful consideration in relation to our core values and our internal and regulatory policies and standards, you'll make recommendations and take decisions as to whether we should continue the relationship with the customer or not. You'll be escalating difficult and complex cases, and calling upon the support of the wider team where necessary.
You'll be documenting the review process, maintaining a clear audit trail, and you'll also be completing periodic reviews, and liaising with both Relationship Managers and customers to obtain further information and ensure that all AML information in our system is accurate and up to date. Ultimately, your skills of analysis, your integrity and sound judgement will ensure that we can provide a highly vigilant, unwavering and robust defence against financial crime.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role you could already have experience of working in AML, but we're also interested to hear from you if you've got the essential analytic skills and are coming from a range of work backgrounds where performing detailed checks and reviews are involved.
Whatever your career background, great judgement and a sharp eye for potential risks will be essential. You'll need some knowledge of AML legislation and policy, and the enthusiasm to continue developing your skills and expertise in this evolving area of our business.
You'll need a perceptive analytic mindset and problem solving skills, including the ability to make decisions and recommendations in difficult cases. You'll also need the strong interpersonal skills and discretion to work effectively with the team and with key stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues, and to communicate clearly and persuasively throughout all stages of the process. You'll be confident in your own judgement and skills, but know when its necessary to call upon the help and expertise of others.
You'll need strong organisational skills to ensure completion of reviews in a timely and accurate manner and the confidence to challenge on process, procedure and operational issues where clarity is needed or simplification required. You'll also have the opportunity to acquire the ICA AML qualification to an advanced level.
