Account Opening Analyst
Guildford (Surrey) Accounting / Management control
Job description
The Business
If you're organised with a sharp eye for detail, this is an opportunity to take on a role within our newly formed Anti Money Laundering (AML) team in Lombard and RBS Commercial & Private Banking. As an Account Opening Analyst, you'll be completing new client onboarding activity quickly, and with care, while assessing the AML risk. You'll be helping us to protect our business and our customers, both for the present and for the future. And in the process, you'll be developing your knowledge to become a subject matter expert in this arena.
Our priority in Commercial & Private Banking (CPB) is to deepen our relationships with commercial clients and open up new opportunities for them. As the number one bank for small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK, we have a strong foundation to build on. By incorporating our market-leading wealth management franchises, we can also connect successful entrepreneurs with our leading private bankers.
What you'll do
As an integral part of our AML team, you'll complete due diligence for new clients during the onboarding stage of the relationship. You'll use the information and systems at your disposal to understand and assess AML risks, and make a recommendation as to whether we should continue the relationship with the client. You'll document your findings carefully, making sure client files are up-to-date.
Whatever your recommendation, we'll expect you to contribute to an excellent customer experience, including completing onboarding activity in a timely manner. To do so, you'll be engaging with Relationship Managers and using the appropriate tools astutely. When needed, you'll also liaise directly with customers to gather further information, and by prioritising your own workflow, you'll make sure cases are completed in good time and comply with AML standards.
In this role you'll also be:
· Using effective decision making to recommend if a relationship should continue with a customer
· Investigating customer information using a range of data providers, public information and verbatim information
· Assessing AML risk of a customer and updating systems and taking necessary action
· Identifying problem cases and recommending appropriate action to minimise risk
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone with a background in Risk or Compliance, but whatever your career background, great judgement and a sharp eye for potential risks will be essential. It would be beneficial to have good knowledge of AML policy and procedures, but more importantly you'll have the enthusiasm to continue developing your skills and expertise in this evolving area of our business.
You'll be able to complete reviews in a timely manner, and have discretion when dealing with sensitive matters. Having the International Compliance Association qualification would be beneficial, but if you're successful in your application we'll support you to achieve this qualification.
As a Financial Services organisation we comply with and support the requirements set by our Regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which are designed to protect our customers. This role falls under Conduct Rules of the Individual Accountability Regime (IAR) and is subject to pre-employment screening. This means if your application is successful, you'll need to satisfy some important background checks before you can start working with us. These will include a full credit check, a criminal record check, residency and right to work checks.
How we'll reward you
In return, we offer a competitive salary starting at £18,998 up to £22,820, plus 25% cash and benefit funding programme that can be tailored to suit your individual needs. In addition, we provide a wide selection of exclusive lifestyle offers, development and learning programmes, services and support designed to help you manage and balance your work/life priorities. At RBS, we want everyone to feel welcome. That's why we want you to know that we'll work with you to make the application process as smooth as possible. So please just let us know if you need any adjustments or support – we'll do whatever we can to help.
If we offer you a job, we'll discuss with you how we can help set you up for success, including by making adjustments to your working environment if required.
