An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Scrum Master to be a part of the Rakuten journey in developing the most exciting global ecosystem.

The role
As part of the Group Core Services Department (GCSD) European team based in Cambridge, the Scrum Master will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating and mentoring development teams across multiple services within the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Using experience and industry knowledge to promote continuous improvement.
• Leading scrum ceremonies for EU team locally and represent in the Scrum of Scrums with Tokyo and US teams.
• Identifying and removing impediments, ensuring you establish an efficient distributed development model.
• Supporting EU development and Product management teams to maintain their backlog in conjunction with the master/global backlog.
• Understanding the needs of the teams, adapt new practices and improvise when needed.
• Developing a great working environment across the multi-regional teams focusing on problem solving.
• Mentoring and coaching the development teams, planning workshops to educate on most effective practices.
• Leading to create a high performing team.
• Thinking out of the box to create new ideas and develop an exciting working environment for Group Core Service team.
• Documenting the progress of the project and communicate effectively to the stakeholders.

What you’ll need
Essential:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• First level Scrum Master Certification (CSM, PSM I).
• Proven experience in a Scrum Master role within a software development environment.
• Ability to demonstrate a strong aptitude for facilitation, continual improvement, empowerment and conflict resolution.
• Strong understanding and proven experience of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Strong influencing skills.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of the extended Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence).
• Technical/software project background or development.
• Previous experience of working with cross functional teams in a DEV-OPS model.
• Knowledge on transitioning from traditional Waterfall projects to using Agile methodologies.
• Working with cross functional teams in a DEV-OPS model.
• Experience of working on Greenfield and Brownfield projects.
