JUNIOR EVENT MANAGER (full-time in Central London)

Great opportunity for a Junior Event Manager with B2B events experience to both take charge of a portfolio and move towards management.

Position: Junior Event Manager (full-time)

Salary: up to £25000 plus Bonus

Location: Central London, occasional projects overseas

Start: October 2015

With plenty to be getting on with, your main responsibilities include:

  • Development, production and delivery of projects from proposal right up to delivery.
  • Delivering events on time, within budget, that meet (and hopefully exceed)expectations.
  • Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities on every project.
  • Communicating, maintaining and developing client relationships.
  • Managing supplier relationships.
  • Managing operational and administrative functions to ensure specific projects are delivered efficiently.
  • Travelling to on site inspections and project managing events.
  • Being responsible for all project budgets from start to finish.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and quality delivery.

Skills, interests and qualities:

Excellent organisation skills and the ability to carry out a number of tasks at the same time

  • Energetic, driven and pro-active
  • Good communication and 'people' skills
  • An ability to focus on the customer
  • A creative approach to problem-solving
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good negotiation, sales and marketing skills
  • Budget awareness
  • Administration and IT skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team and also use your own initiative
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have at least undergraduate degree in event management. Other qualifications and relevant experience will be likewise considered.

What would your tasks normally look like:

  • Discussing what the client wants
  • Coming up with original ideas for events
  • Agreeing budgets and timescales with the client
  • Researching venues, contacts and suppliers
  • Negotiating prices with suppliers and contractors
  • Booking venues, entertainment, equipment and supplies
  • Hiring and supervising contractors such as caterers and security
  • Publicising the event
  • Making sure that everything runs smoothly on the day
  • Ensuring that health, safety and insurance regulations are followed managing a team.

Hours

Permanent contract for a full-time Junior Event Manager position. You would generally work standard office hours, although as event dates get nearer you may work long and unsocial hours. You may also go to events in the evenings and at the weekend.

Payment

Starting salary is £20,000 to £25,000 a year, depending on past performance. With experience, earnings can reach £40,000 in year two (career growth opportunity). Quarterly bonus on company's discretion.
