Job description

Primary Technical skills

- Solid programming proficiency in an object orientated language, preferably Java

- Excellent understanding of algorithms and data structures

- Knowledge of Unix operating system

- Comfortable with creating UML diagrams

- Able to break large task into smaller chunks

- Understanding client / server computing

- Knowledge of MySQL

- Fluent in English in reading and writing

- The ability to quickly build a Web Screen (e.g. using PHP) is a bonus

- Web development skills, e.g. JavaScript, PHP, apache, JSON, XML

- Knowledge of test driven design and implementation

Primary soft skills

- Self-starter

- Team player

- Creatively taking a lead in doing research / feasibility studies and prototypes

- Being aware of the full development life cycle of a product

Responsibilities

- Focus on quality

- Create use case, activity, and deployment diagrams using UML

- Design and write new code

- Manage code in subversion/git

- Write shell scripts (bash, perl, python)

- Prepare for and attend daily scrum

- Learn Yahoo technologies

- Work with Operations teams to deploy software

- Working with Product Management to turn Product Requirements into Engineering Designs

The successful candidate will be tasked with building our website from the ground up in which case knowledge of building websites for property businesses will be essential.

Desired profile

-Experience of developing websites for property businesses is required.
-Computing and web design certification.
-IT and Graphics design experience
