Graduate Legal Entity Governance & Compliance London Spring 2021
Internship London, UNITED KINGDOM IT development
Job description
Entity Governance & Compliance (EGC)
In the current political and economic environment the way in which organisations are governed has never been more important. For a business to be effective it needs to be well governed. Likewise, when a business is badly governed there are potentially significant negative consequences for shareholders, employees, other stakeholders and society as a whole.
Our client-facing team of governance professionals in the Entity Governance & Compliance (EGC) business is seen as the market leader in the UK and plans to remain at the forefront of governance services and technology-enabled solutions. It is an exciting place to launch or develop your career by supporting companies, and the boards of directors that run them, in meeting their evolving legal, regulatory and governance obligations.
As part of the team you will learn to utilise and develop the latest technology to deliver governance, transactional and compliance solutions to a diversity of clients in order to enhance their governance and help solve their governance problems.
In the EGC team we are passionate about good governance. We believe that our work not only helps companies meet their objectives, but that well governed companies are beneficial to and help society as a whole.
What you'll do
As part of our passion for governance we want to develop the next generation of governance professionals. We trust and value our team so from day one as an associate you’ll be given the guidance, training and support necessary to begin helping our clients and you will be encouraged to develop relationships with these clients, and other PwC colleagues, as their trusted advisor.
You can expect to get involved with a broad spectrum of work with a diversity of organisations, providing services under the following broad categories:
● Governance: you could find yourself helping a privately owned family business with its succession planning or working with a large multinational company to evaluate the effectiveness of its board governance across every country in which they operate globally.
● Transactions: you may work on a project to form a new company with PwC colleagues overseas, to project manage the wind up of unwanted companies or to inject equity into companies to support further investment.
● Compliance: you will also help ensure that companies are legally compliant and meeting their legal and regulatory obligations in the UK and/or in the overseas jurisdictions in which they are registered.
Technology has been one of the biggest disruptors in the legal and governance sector in recent years. The EGC team are market leaders in utilising and developing technology to provide effective governance solutions. As part of this you will be given the opportunity to train on and develop this technology, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, in order to help us and our clients operate effectively and efficiently.
Programme
Our graduate training programme is underpinned by a development framework that broadens and deepens your knowledge. You'll learn from hands-on coaching and an outstanding variety of work, picking up business, personal and technical skills you can use across the network, and throughout your career.
What you'll gain
Your training will combine on-the-job coaching and formal courses with study for a professional qualification. You’ll divide your time between working in the office, (virtual or otherwise!) directly supporting clients (often at their offices) and studying. You’ll study towards the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme with ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute.
What you'll need
You'll need to have or be on course for a 2.1 degree or above in any subject. We determine whether you're on course for a 2.1 based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study.
Do you need a work permit?
Please note that PwC is unable to sponsor any candidates for the following graduate roles as the Home Office's eligibility criteria will not be satisfied. For more information visit our website .
When to apply
Although there is no application deadline, each year we have only a small number of Graduate roles available. We therefore advise applying early, but please be prepared for a short wait in processing your application at each stage of our process while we consider your application alongside others.
