Are you an experienced Commercial Sales person with a scientific background?

We are currently recruiting for a further Sales Manager to join our forward-thinking team who are passionate about driving the business forward by maintaining up to date scientific understanding that allows them to provide an excellent standard of support to our customers. PI-KEM specialises in the sale of Laboratory Research Equipment and Materials into businesses and academic establishments across UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

The Company has seen year on year increases in sales and prides itself on providing a unique, individualised service to our customers. Our customers expect and value the fact that our Sales Managers are specialists in their own field rather than a geographical area. You will initially have responsibility for the promotion of a materials focused portfolio of products including Sputtering Targets and Evaporation Sources. Working with new and existing customers you will build relationships by participating in all aspects of the sales process from initial contact, discussions relating to the customers current research project or application, through to securing their purchase and ensuring that their tight technical specifications are met.

We are looking for either an experienced Commercial Sales person who will be given full product training or a recent graduate of Materials Science or associated discipline who is wishing to begin a Sales career working within an exciting and ever-changing scientific environment.

Job Role to include:

• Office based sales; providing a quick and efficient response to customer enquiries, including liaising with suppliers, to facilitate an effective solution to their application and then following up to secure sale.

• Maintaining and developing current relationships with existing customers and suppliers.

• Work with our marketing support to fully utilise the Company web-shop, website and other marketing strategies to acquire new sales contacts for the Company as a whole.

• Sales administration, including production of quotes, maintaining customer profiles, processing sales orders, handling administration and liaising with our purchasing department to progress orders.

• Offering after-sales support. Dealing with customer technical and / or commercial queries.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious individual who is dedicated to achieving high standards throughout their work.

The essential characteristics and skills required are:

• Highly motivated, with a pro-active approach to their workload.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a good attention to detail.

• Be able to build relationships quickly and effectively to support our existing customer base as well as developing new contacts.

• Knowledge and experience of using web-based marketing tools and Microsoft Office.

• Educated to degree level in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Chemistry / related discipline.

The desirable characteristics and skills are:

Up to date knowledge of scientific material development and trends.

Ability to interpret technical specifications/drawings.

Experience of using Sage 200 and CRM databases.

Salary range: £23,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience
