Job Title

Scientist in Physics - Philips Mammography Solutions

Job Description

The focus area is exploring future developments of the unique MicroDose technology for mammography, generally optimizing the imaging performance of the existing platform, but also to research and perform technology development on new applications. The work is a combination of theoretical investigations and hands-on experiments to verify or validate the approaches.

The role requires skills in physics and computation, and deep knowledge of the MicroDose core technology is expected over time. There is engagement in product development, particularly in the early stages, including pre-studies and system design, and in the late stages, including physics testing where the system performance with respect to image and radiation quality is assessed.

Your team

You will be part of the team for Research and Advanced Development at Philips Mammography Solutions in Kista, working closely with three local colleagues that have a scientist profile, but also with researches in Hamburg and a larger team of R&D-engineers in Sweden and India.

Your Responsibilities

The position means participation and responsibilities within research, technology development, and product development of X-ray mammography systems based on photon-counting technology.

·  System optimization, system design, and test design with respect to core components, such as detector, X-ray tube, and imaging geometry
·  Algorithm development and concept studies for new applications for the spectral MicroDose technology.
·  Development of calibration routines
·  Presenting results from above activities in clear and structured written reports and design specifications
·  Presenting scientific work in journal papers and at international scientific conferences
·  Contribute solid scientific content to marketing material, such as technical presentations at trade shows and exhibitions
·  Maintaining and developing a network within the scientific community, both technical and clinical, including key opinion leaders
·  Training of Philips personnel in MicroDose technology
·  Local responsibility for generation and administration of intellectual property (IP), and contact person for Philips' central IP organization

Qualifications

·  PhD, preferably within applied physics or mathematics
·  Experience from performing analysis, calculations, simulations, and modelling in MATLAB, Python or similar
·  Knowledge and experience (academia or industry) from med-tech and X-ray physics
·  Knowledge of C++ programming
·  Knowledge of intellectual property
