Apprentice / Intern (3 months contract: Based in Kenya, Nairobi)
As part of the Breastfeeding Project 2015, Philips has started an Expression Cabinet Pilot. The Expression Cabinet contains all the necessities for a mother to express milk for her baby to continue exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. The cabinet is customized to host an expressing mother's necessities i.e. sink, socket (for electric pump usage), fridge, microwave and storage space. Mothers can lock the cabinet, so that the room can be used multifunctional (meeting room, storage, first aid).
The pilot has kicked off to a good start (Dec 2015) and 5 mothers will be using the cabinet for 3 months. During this period the mothers will be monitored, interviewed and focus groups will be organized to evaluate it, but also to learn how the cabinet could be improved for the future. Next to the mothers, several companies will be invited to give feedback on the cabinet to see if they would be interested in buying such a solution for their own office.
We are looking for an enthusiast intern to support us with this pilot. We also will incorporate the intern in activities in the Social Franchising project (2016).
The activities include:
· Prepare interview and focus group discussion questions.
· Conduct interviews and focus group discussions with the participating mothers and interested companies according to research protocol.
· Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary.
· Analyze the data and summarize findings in a report and presentation in timelines discussed with the Project Leader.
· If time allows support the team in other activities like desk research or fieldwork.
Internship Requirements
· University Degree (preferably Business or Social Science discipline)
· Student, preferably with affinity/interest in mothers with young children. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
· Join our team for at least 3 months full time (be available in the office)
· Good qualitative research skills
· Good communication skills
· Good presentation skills
