TRADEMARK ANALYST – MATERNITY COVER (APPROX. 8 MONTHS)

We are looking for a solicitor or trademark attorney (full or part qualified) with the relevant experience to provide maternity cover for approximately 8 months from August-March.

You will have at least 3-4 years of experience as trademark analyst or lawyer in a law firm specializing in international trademark and IP practice, and/or corporate trademark department of an international company with a particular focus on multijurisdictional trademark searches, trademark application processes, trademark portfolio protection and prosecution, oppositions and IP related agreements and litigation. You will be motivated, a self-starter and able to work independently and as part of team.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Trademark Department is spread over four locations around the world: Lausanne, London, New York and Hong Kong. This opportunity is located in our London office in Hammersmith, but will report to a Senior Trademark Counsel in Lausanne. You will be expected to be able to work independently but will have the support of the Senior Counsel.

We are looking for someone to manage our brands across the Eastern Europe Middle East and Africa (EEMA) region whilst the lawyer that normally does this work is on maternity leave.
Specifically, you will:
· Liaise directly with internal clients based in Lausanne and across EEMA to advise them on clearance and protection of new pack designs, innovations, sub-brands, product features, slogans and logos.
· Initiate searches and prepare reports as to the availability of trademarks for registration or use, including liaising with outside counsels across EEMA.
· Run trademark clearance projects on a country specific or regional level, as well as conduct and advise on identical online searches using SAEGIS.
· Be responsible for reviewing packaging material as well as trademark legends to ensure proper usage and dealing with IP related ad-hoc queries from your internal clients.
· Manage the prosecution of our regional trademark portfolio.
· Have primary responsibility for Registry contentious matters across the region, including opposition and cancellation proceedings (evidence preparation, reviewing statutory declarations, instructing outside counsel etc).
· Prepare cease and desist letters and assist the Senior Counsel in infringement matters
· Assist the Senior Counsel in collection of documentation for the preparation of trademark license and settlement agreements, and implementation of post-agreement action plans.
