Pet Subjects are looking for a Graphic Design Intern or experienced designer to join our small and friendly team based in Chobham, Surrey. Work experience is preferred but not essential – what is most imporant is a great portfolio and a keen enthusiasm for design. Working with us will offer you the unique opportunity to design for some of the best known pet brands and small independent businesses, both in print and online.

Your main role will be working with our sales and marketing team to create advertisements for our two monthly publications , Dogs Today and Dogs Monthly . There will also be opportunities to collaborate with our in-house design team on designs for email campaigns, competitions and creative assets for our social media profiles, which includes e-commerce site PurrfectlyYappy.com

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Educated to degree level in Digital Design or relevant experience.
An excellent and varied portfolio.
An interest working in the print and digital environment.
A natural flair for creative design, including layout/composition, typography, and aesthetic coherence.
In-tune with current design trends in digital, particularly in mobile.
Resourceful and independent - can work to deadlines and standards with a minimum of supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Demonstrable knowledge of designing for mobile, web and print.
Be aware of the specific use for different digital file formats (gif/jpg/png/eps etc)
Excellent skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
Understanding of coding HTML and CSS and other web design languages such as Javascript, JQuery and PHP are a plus.
The ability to design promo graphics, banners (static and animated), responsive email newsletters and landing pages.
Knowledge of OSX
Experience in Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress and Shopify are a plus.

Experienced designers will be paid a competitive salary dependent on experience, but if you're looking to get some professional experience and improve your portfolio, we also offer paid intern-to-perm positions which run for 3-6 months and offer a full-time position with competitive pay if the fit is right.
