OSMAN, The eponymous label from british born designer OSMAN YOUSEFZADA, made it's debut in 2008 at London Fashion Week. OSMAN’S unique architectural, elegant aesthetic and strong, sculptural designs both flatter and celebrate the woman's body, qualities which have established him as one of London's most exciting talents. 2008 saw him nominated for the Designs of the Year award at the Design Museum, whilst also being awarded the prestigious BFC Newgen award sponsored by Topshop, for three consecutive seasons. OSMAN has also been shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer fashion Fund in 2011, 2013, 2015, whilst also being shortlisted for a Frieze art award in 2014. Between collections, he also produces a collaborative journal - The Collective - A cross-disciplinary publication in which Osman draws on his own circle of fellow artists, writers and other creatives. OSMAN is sold internationally at the likes of Browns, Galleries Lafayette, Selfridges, Matchesfashion.com and Harvey Nichols.

This is a varied and hands-on role, in a busy and exciting studio environment with a very friendly, close-knit team; So teamwork and a pro-active, can-do attitude are key.

As a design intern, your role will play a key part in helping the assistant designer in the general development, and running of collections, including artworking, research and design development, working very closely with Product Development/fabrics and Sampling departments, and being general support for Osman and his Development team when necessary.

This is also a great role for anyone interested in print/fabric design, particularly hand drawn/painted prints, embroidery and fabric development; All of which form a core part of our collections, and are an integral part of Osman's design DNA.

Desired profile

The skills necessary for this role include;

Strong hand drawing skills and sketching ability
Must have confident Photoshop and Illustrator skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Good fabric knowledge and understanding
Understanding of garment construction and tailoring/pattern cutting
Able to create technical drawings in proportion, and to a high standard
Able to edit and help create print artworks - able to do repeats confidently
Fluent english written and verbal

Duties may include;

Garment/design colour-ups in photoshop and illustrator and assisting in collection plan sheets
Technical drawings in illustrator to spec- for factories and production packs
Quick sketching and helping to organise collection plan development
Assisting in fittings and taking photos and notes in meetings
Concept research and mood boards for presentation
Fabric research and surface development, including fabric manipulation and sewing samples
Assisting with artwork development for woven fabrics such as jacquards and brocades
Embroidery engineering for production and graded sets
Assisting in print design and editing artworks in photoshop
Liaising between departments (particularly Sampling and Product Development)
General day-to-day tasks in the studio
Being general support for Osman and his team when necessary
Helping with shows and fashion week - prepping garments and samples, pattern cutting when necessary, backstage hands and dressing/helping with models and organisation
