Job description
Purpose
Orano is seeking the right candidate to appoint to the challenging leadership position of Managing Director (MD).
The current MD will be retiring at the end of 2023, and the company is seeking to appoint a successor to lead the organisation on the next crucial stage of the company’s development.
The MD role reports to the Projects Business Unit Business Operations Director, based in France, who also Chairs the Orano Limited Board of Directors. The current MD is also a member of the Board of Directors.
Organisation
The MD is the senior executive based in the UK, accountable for the day to day leadership of the UK based Management Team, and the performance of the business.
The Management Team comprises the Chief Operating Officer who has accountability for all operational delivery and performance, and supporting support functions including the Finance Director, Head of Business Development, Head of HR, and Technical Authority. Additional supporting functions reporting to the MD include Safety, Health and Environment, Security, Quality, and Commercial.
Due to the growing work load secured in the UK, work is increasingly undertaken by a combination of UK and French based resources within the Projects and other Business Units. The role thus demands the ability to work in a co-ordinated manner with Executives and senior staff based in France.
In addition to the Orano Limited Executive role, the post holder also undertakes the role of Orano Country Director, representing the broader Orano organisation and its interests in the UK.
Principal Duties
· Lead the development and implementation of the company’s business strategy, in order to achieve company development objectives.
· Lead the preparation and implementation of comprehensive business plans in order to meet specified financial performance objectives.
· Ensure all company Group and Business Unit policies and requirements are appropriately implemented and followed.
· Develop and maintain future and current business relationships with partner organisations and relevant stakeholders, establishing a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and trust.
· Oversee and take accountability for all aspects of the company’s performance, achieving set performance goals and objectives.
· Represent the company and wider Orano Group, modelling the Orano values.
· Lead the work of the Management Team, providing mentoring, personal development, and motivation, so as to achieve a high performing team dedicated to success.
