Job description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Overview:

The Database Engineering team at Oracle+Bronto is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to help design, implement and support a new Oracle Database environment to augment our existing large scale MySQL and Hadoop/HBase infrastructure. This will include implementing and managing any required Oracle tools related to database administration (e.g., monitoring, automation, backups, ETL, etc.) on infrastructure both on-site and cloud-based (Oracle Cloud).

Additionally, the person in this role will work with application development teams on new application/schema design on Oracle (best practices, new features, performance considerations, etc.) as well as lead migrations to Oracle from existing platforms (determining the best strategy/implementation, data movement, validation, etc.).

Responsibilities:

·  Deploy and support Oracle 12c/18c on Oracle Clusterware and RAC
·  Deploy and support Active Data Guard for DR and read-write distribution
·  Implement/test backup and recovery routines (using RMAN and/or SAN snapshots)
·  Implement TDE for data-at-rest encryption
·  Build/maintain processes to sync users/privs with LDAP groups
·  Database-level monitoring, auditing, tuning and optimization
·  Application-level performance tuning and optimization
·  Database architecture, data modeling and schema design consultancy
·  Writing stored procs and triggers to support application functionality
·  Analyzing growth trends and forecasting
·  Participate in an on-call rotation
Qualifications:

·  Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
·  5-15 years' experience managing/supporting Oracle on Unix/Linux
·  5-15 years working in a Unix/Linux environment, including scripting and automation
·  5-15 years SQL and PL/SQL scripting, data modeling, and schema design
·  2+ years running databases in the cloud
Nice to Have Experience and Knowledge:

·  Building/managing Oracle databases in the cloud (Oracle Cloud preferred)
·  MySQL or Hadoop/HDFS environments
·  SAN technologies (e.g., Dell Compellent, Oracle ZFS)
·  Data Architecture or Data Modeling (especially on Oracle)
·  High-level programming languages (e.g., python or java)
·  Automated configuration management tools like Puppet
