QA Engineer

Job description

Responsible for developing, applying and maintaining quality standards for company products with adherence to both internal and external standards. Develops and executes software test plans. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results. Analyzes test results and recommends corrective actions.

As a member of the technical/process QA division, you will develop quality standards, control methods and theories to be utilized during manufacturing, testing and inspection to access product quality. Develop standards and procedures to provide quality guidance methods.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities:

Writing test plans for new product features, designing and implementing automated tests using Selenium, executing test plans, reporting software bugs, reproducing problems reported by customers, and verifying software bug fixes from development.
The candidate must be an extremely bright, articulate, and accomplished problem solver, capable of troubleshooting complex software application problems. They must be able to provide both preventive actions to avoid similar future problems, and to suggest innovative workarounds in order to resolve existing problems.
Desired Skills:

Must have:
• Proven previous work experience in the QA field of at least 3 year
• Exceptional logic and problem solving skills.
• Good understanding of testing concepts and methodologies (both hands-on, but also theoretical)
• Used to working with bug-tracking systems (finding, reporting and managing bugs)
• Ability to write test cases and test plans
• Experience in testing web-based applications or client-server software (financial and accounting type of software)
• Good level of English (both written and spoken)
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, or by yourself depending on the tasks at hand
Nice to have:
• Education in Computer Science/Accounting/Engineering (or a similar field), or equivalent 2 years' work experience
• ISTQB Foundation Level certification
• Knowledge of databases, preferably MySQL 5 (writing common queries)
• Experience with testing web applications, web services, .NET (ASP)
• Ability to use Linux/Unix on command line level
