Job description

Develop, analyze and maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically four years of software engineering or related experience needed.

Summary:

This position is to be a member of our Release Team as a PSG Release Engineer. You will work on and create tools that automate manual work to improve efficiency and repeatability of software build, release, deployment, and site maintenance of our unique and strategic commerce application used by major companies across the world.

Responsibilities:

• Own code deployment to Dev, QA and production environment
• Serve as control point for ensuring SDLC processes related to release are followed according to policies
• Managing code in source control system (Perforce, GIT, etc)
• Own the build process, including creating ‘bill of materials'
• Testing new release procedures and tools
• Passion for automation
• Excellent Interpersonal skills working in a team environment
• Self-motivated, capable of working independently when needed
• Making recommendations on corrective actions and process improvements
• Establishing effective business relationships within the organization and maintain knowledge of operating divisions
• Ensure continued compliance with all facets of the release–related business processes and policies
• Represent Release team on organizational project teams and at management meetings

Requirements:

• Troubleshooting and scripting skills in following areas - Linux, Networking.
• 3-6 years of experience working in a large scale production operations environment providing mission critical services to customers
• IT Releated Degree
• Comprehensive understanding of Linux operating system.
• Advanced scripting – Perl or Python
• Work quickly and accurately under pressure in time critical situations
• A self starter who takes pride in job ownership and is always thinking of innovative ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness
