Job description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

We are looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer who will lead reliability, performance and operational improvements for our Network Automation and Control Plane stacks. Your expertise will be put to use to design and build systems that simplify the management and operations of a complex set of services and tools. You will help define the systems we use to build new regions and expand existing capacity. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn and lead. Your excellent judgment and strong communication skills will be invaluable when defining the roadmap for your areas of ownership.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• 8+ years of industry experience

• 3+ years of experience in handling services in a large scale environment

• Strong understanding of systems and application design

• Practical knowledge of shell scripting and at least one high level languages (Java or Python preferred)

• Solid understanding of RHEL/CentOS/OEL

• Know TCP/IP, HTTP and experience supporting distributed application architectures

• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

• Excellent judgment to influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Hardware Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with large scale datacenter operations

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

• Networking background a plus

• Kubernetes or Mesos

Position is location in the Oracle Cloud Dev Center Seattle, Washington.
