Job description

Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.

As a Master Principal Sales Consultant you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions. Develops productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

Acknowledged authority within the Corporation. Acts as a leader of large-scale company initiatives. Viewed by peers as a leader and top contributor and by line management as a key business partner. 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. BA/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.

Functional Sales Consultant (Merchandising Solutions) for Oracle Retail Global Business Unit in Asia Pacific, mainland China based position.

Position Summary:

Oracle's Retail Global Business Unit is seeking an experienced Pre-Sales Solution Consultant with proven expertise in Retail Merchandising solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

· The focus for this pre-sales role is to support sales activities in mainland China. However, there will be scope to support the Greater China region, for example Hong Kong.

· Responsibilities will include supporting the wider Asia Pacific Retail Global Business Unit team either remotely or in-person as opportunities require.

· Understanding the key business challenges and objectives of our customers and prospects, and how Oracle Retail Merchandising solutions can help them achieve those objectives.

· Maintain a broad knowledge of Retail industry trends, and how Oracle Retail fits in the market.

· Take a lead role in supporting sales cycles related to the Merchandising solution area, including: Master Data Management, Merchandise Procurement, Omni-Channel Inventory Management, Allocation and Replenishment, Pricing and Promotions, Sales Audit, Invoice Matching and Financials Management, Business Intelligence and Reporting; with touchpoints to Planning & Optimisation solutions.

· Key activities include:

o Responding to RFx's

o Leading discovery sessions with clients

o Preparing customer-specific demonstrations

o Performing demonstrations on-site at client facilities and remote demonstrations

o Owning post-demonstration follow-up and any other activities necessary to help close a deal

o As well as attending trade shows (such as NRF) and occasional partner events

· Key partner is the Retail Account Sales Rep; but a solution consultant must develop and maintain a broad network across sales, pre-sales, product strategy, product development, marketing, external partners and other areas.

Desired Skills & Experience:

· Minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience across the following three areas

o Selling Retail Merchandising solutions

o Using Oracle Retail Merchandising solutions or similar

o Holding key business roles e.g. buyer, merchandise manager, category manager, planner, consultant) at one or more large Retailers

· Solid understanding of gathering client requirements and aligning them with product capabilities.

· Solid understanding of integration concepts (both data and process) to understand how Oracle's solutions would fit into a client's heterogeneous environment.

· Excellent presentation and communication skills

o Strong English written and verbal skills are mandatory

· Excellent selling skills and sales awareness (understanding the difference between selling and training)

· Must be very organised, be able to prioritise and multi-task, and work well under pressure.

· Must be able to work independently without direct supervision, since this is a remote role reporting to a remote manager.

· Must be able to travel on average 50% of the time, within Greater China region. Travel could be 1-2 days duration or all week, depending on the circumstances.
