Developer Evangelist, Open Source Fn Project

Job description

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Developer Evangelist for Open Source Fn Project

Do you naturally evangelize new technologies? Are you interested in doing it full time for the Fn Project, a new open source serverless project developed by Oracle? Our serverless team is building high-scale distributed system technologies starting with functions-as-a-service and workflow products all in the open!

We are looking for a Developer Evangelist to help drive awareness and adoption through the following activities:

You will:

·  Work with bleeding edge technologies including Fn, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Go, Java, and many other modern technologies
·  Speak and evangelize at conferences, meetups, events, and any other place where developers attend
·  Code. This is not a “just talk” role. You will be writing code sample apps, tutorials, and helping customers and community members tackle problems
·  Write blog posts and other copy to help with the promotion of Fn.
·  Network with the members of our community and other companies to help drive adoption and develop the market for Fn.

Qualifications:

·  3+ years' experience in developer evangelism or advocacy role
·  Can travel at a minimum 1 week each month
·  Proven track record for speaking and writing with publicly available examples of both
·  Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
·  Experience with four or more modern programming languages (Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Go, Perl, shell, etc.).
