Job description

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Cloud Automation Engineer

The GBUCS – Cloud Automation team is responsible for the delivery of tools / systems for the Global Business Unit Cloud Serivces organization. We focus on improving the efficiency of hosting operations and the delivery of cloud-based business services.

Role

We are looking for a smart, self-motivated, hard-working application engineer to join our GBUCS - Cloud Automation team. The candidate will lead the automation of workflow projects and manage our Chef Implementation. In addition, the candidate will be focused on expanding our log aggregation service built on ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana as a key service to our operations teams. This position is critical to improve our ability to deliver high quality cloud services to our customers.

Responsibilities

·  Support and grow an enterprise class log aggregation implementation using ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana (ELK) across 15+ Oracle data centers
·  Work with cross-functional teams to create Chef Cookbooks while supporting the Chef-Server platform; delivering code via Chef Automate
·  Work with product management to define service descriptions and artifacts required during the on boarding process for new cloud services
·  On-going support for our log aggregation service, workflow automations, and configuration services
·  On-board customers to CI/CD tools; enabling teams through delivery pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

·  7 years or more of related technical experience
·  2 years or more working in an enterprise cloud environment (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud)
·  Comfortable working in an agile nature in a DevOps environment
·  Experience supporting applications in a mission-critical 24x7 business environment a must
·  Experience with NoSQL platforms and key-value stores (ELK, Redis, MongoDB)
·  Hands-on experience with messaging platforms (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or alike)
·  Strong Oracle Enterprise Linux or RedHat experience
·  Automation experience with Terraform a plus
·  Configuration Management experience Chef (preferred), Puppet or Ansible
·  Scripting experience with Python, Perl, Ruby or bash and using Git
·  Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop or HBase a huge plus
·  Excellent communication skills
·  Ability to operate under pressure with an extreme attention to detail is required
·  Experience working in teams of 5-10, ideally in a cross-functional team setting
·  BS or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
